Foxfire chased Oath, struggling to keep up and not fall behind, struggling to keep an eye on the kits. She then tumbled, head over paws, down the embankment to the lake. She tried not to fall into the water. She failed. As soon as she his the ice-cold water her fire was put out. The amount of water coupled with the chill and the fact that she kept tumbling into the water and further from the safety of the shore knocked her out. The last thing the thought before darkness took her was, I failed............

Littleflower skidded to a stop as Lonestar spoke to her. She turned her wild gaze to Oath, then to Stonekit. She let out an agonized moan and ran over to the leader's den. "No! No! Lemme GO!" Bluekit hissed. She kicked the unshethed claws of her footpaws at the closest part of Oath to them, her throat. She squirmed, trying to rip at his neck like she heard in the old Tigerclan stories.

Lonestar noded and took off after Oath, following just behind Foxfire, he didn't stop as she fell , not knowing she had gone all the way into the starlit waters of the lake, but continued to chase Oath. His silver pelt shone the opposie of the black she-cat as he followed her, she had a significant lead but that meant next to nothing.
Rookpaw saw Foxfire fall into the depths, saw her flames go out, and saw that she wasn't coming up to the surface, he hesitated. He could always catch the kits later, but he had never tried any of his windpower on water. He didnt know how this was going to work, or what the black cat intended to do with the kits, but he assumed she wasnt going to kill them, they would be ead already if she was, no, he would hunt her down later with ease, steal them back just as quick, and escape trough the air. "Lonestar!" he called as he made up his mind. Frowning he turned himself away from the chase, directing a powerful wind down into the water, displacing it, driving it away from where he had last seen foxfire disappear into the black surface. He hit the remaining few feet of water hard, knocking the breath out of him, but ginger pelt was right in front of his nose, and he grabbed at foxfire's limp form, tired already from the effort it as taking to keep the water from becoming to deep near him, the wind still pushing down on the lake with great force. His claws grabbed at the bottom and he pulled himself away from the depths of the lake, up to the shore, dragging foxfire with him, spluttering as he heaved himself onto the bank, with a little help from some of his wind, and collapsed on shaky legs, using what energy he had left to move foxfire further from the water. before sighing and half closing his eyes, without energy to move, his tail still drooping in the water.
Lonestar's ears pricked at Rookpaw's call he turned his head around to see what was happening, watching the ripples fly across the surface of the water before a large section of the lake water was pushed aside by the apprentice's doing. Foxfire must have fallen in. He hissed, but knew he couldn't catch Oath, he would have to get the its back later. Rookpaws talent could assure they would find them. He stopped, turning his paws to where the apprentice was now dragging foxfire from the lake.
Oath hissed irritably, but the kits claws were yet to small to do more than pull at her thick fu and eave the barest of scratches on her neck. "Ooh, your quiet the fighter, you'll make a good Bloodclan cat." She purred, glancing back to see all forms of pursuit leaving her, and laughing, though she kept a firm hold on the kits, weaving quickly towards bloodclan territory.

Foxfire didn't wake up, didn't move. She just laid there, still as a statue. Eventually, as she began to regain conciousness, smoke began rising from her soaking wet pelt as fire threatened to flare up suddenly. The smoke stopped only when her pelt was dry and she was awake, though she still didn't bother to move. The heat coming off of her betrayed the fact that she was awake. She knew she'd come close to drowning but she didn't really care. She lost the kits. She failed. I failed.... The two words rang repeatedly through her mind as it slowly sunk in. She hated failing which was why losing was not an option to her. Depression didn't come easily to the fiery, passionate, she-cat but when it did strike, it struck hard.... and that hadn't been since the later days of her twoleg imprisonment, certainly not since she'd come here. But it was back now, in full force. I failed.... I failed the kits, I failed keeping my heart from breaking, I failed protecting my Clan...... I'm a failure.... She thought softly, steadily. No tears came, granting her relief from the chocking sadness. Nothing helped. So she just stayed there, not moving an inch, with her eyes firmly closed as it slowly sank in that she wasn't dead....

Rookpaw noticed foxfire stirring again, still to tired to move, his half-open eyes slid over to her. "Foxfire...." He breathed, tones croaky from swallowing water, he made a ight breeze pll gently at her ears. "Foxfire..."

Foxfire slowly turned to him, sorrow still shining in his eyes even as she made her pelt produse more heat in the hopes of drieing him out. Then she wearily got to her paws, her sorrow taking as much out of her as her near-death experience. She pulled him even further out of the water and settled close to him. She knew she couldn't pull him back to camp. She really didn't want to move from there anyway....

"C'mon Snowkit!" Bluekit hissed, kicking at Oath's throat. "You've gotta help me!" The white kit sniffled and began to squirm. Littleflower padded sadly into Lonestar's den and sat next to Stonekit. "Firefox and Rookpaw are gonna het Bluekit and Snowkit back, right momma?" The grey kit asked. The mother nodded, the tears that chocked her throat allowed her to do nothing else.

Oath frowned, biting down a little harder on the kits scruffs, a few large leaps over some stones and she was gone from Windclan terra, not stopping she headed straight towards Bloodclan.
Rookpaw smiled, eyes looking at her quietly. "Thanks." He muttered looking over to where Lonestar was approaching.
"You'll be able to track her?" Perhaps not the most caring and worried response that it should have been but he needed to know if rookpaw could. Ot was high time he was made warrior. He thought, remembering how old Rookpaw was for an apprentice. The kits were almost ready to be apprentices as well.
"Yup. Just...let me take a little breather." he murmured, closing his eyes still not moving, his limbs were numb. He hadn't before believed it could tae so much effort to move water with wind, but he had never done something like that before. Lonestar nodded, eyes moving to Foxfire. He turned around, leaving the two cats, he would grab Icepetal, she might want to check if foxfire or rookpaw had gotten water in their lungs. if so it would be an unpleasant evening of coughing it back up. He knew from experience.

Foxfire's own heat could probably evaporate most water, unless it was in excessive ammounts. Then it could probably kill her faster than most things. Drowning came easily to her and swimming was far beyond Foxfire's grasp. Foxfire offered no reply to either of them, the two words she'd been repeating over and over in her head steadily tearing her apart inside. Couple that with Rookpaw's rejection.... Foxfire didn't seem to notice Rookpaw's thanks. She shouldn't've tried to get back up. It was almost like she was hoping she'd love her footing and tumble mercilessly back into the water. Shaking her head, she turned and started back to her tree. "Can I do anything right?" she could be heard murmuring as she left. She didn't want to face her sister if only because Icepetal would know what was wrong with Foxfire. Icepetal would know about her sister's sorrow and would fuss and fight and yowl. Foxfire didn't want to be fussed over.....

Littleflower raced over to the four cats with Stonekit dashing at her side. "Did you get them back?" She asked, looking around worriedly. When she didn't see her kits, she slumped dejectedly. Stonekit opened his mouth, trying to bring in the scents of his sisters. When he caught them, he slipped away from the others.

Rookpaw looked up watching foxfire sadly, with a concerned look on his face. There was a deep urge to say something, anything at all she shouldnt be running away like that for any reason. Words however, seemed lost to him and he remained mute, only sighing and dropping his head to his paws, waiting obediently. He glanced at Littleflower. "There there. I'll fetch them back just as quick i only need a little rest. Besides they are tough and she won't do them no harm else she would have already." he said trying to comfort the queen.

Littleflower tried to straighten up, but her ears were still a little droopy when she turned to where her remaining kit was just second's ago.... "Stonekit?" She yowled, looking around wildly.

Rookpaw looked around a well niffing the air, moving the winds about to find the kit. "He went off...following the black cat." He said quietly. Slowly getting to his feet. "Ill go see Icepetal, but then I'm off to snatch the little ones back. Come on littleflower. You should come as well." He said walking slowly over to the queen and brushing against her reassuringly. "They will be fine. I promise."

Littleflower started to return to the camp. Her head was swarming with images of her kits becoming bloodthirsty cats, Bluekit, Stonekit, and poor inocent little Snowkit. She had failed, not only as a mother, but as a queen, who's only job was to take care of kits. She stopped and turned her head towards the Bloodclan camp, her legs tensing.

Foxfire noticed when Rookpaw didn't come after her. She wasn't fast enough to catch the kits. Maybe she really was worthless.... She shook her head, desperately trying to clear it. She failed and laid back down under her tree. It seemed the only thing she was willing to do was fight right then. She knew the others were perfectly capable of fetcvhing back kits without her and she wasn't sure she would be able to restrain her fire if it came down to it anymore......
